axis/pole orientation - devon - 05-01-2020

Along which axis and in which direction (positive/negative) are the magnetic poles represented?

I would assume either y or z in the positive direction to be polar North, if there is a convention for this, I've forgotten it.
--I did see the axis orientation in relation to the phone screen where +y points to the top, +x points right, and +z is orthogonal to its surface.

Thank you

phyphox displays the components of the magnetic field vector in the coordinate system at the end of https://phyphox.org/sensors/

I followed the link and it brought me to the explanation of axis orientation, I didn't see anything on magnetic field vectors but I'll keep looking.
Thanx

I have not got that part of you question: what exactly would you like to know?

If you bring the x- and z-components to zero and the y-component is positive, the magnetic field goes along from the bottom to the top of your mobile display. The top of your mobile points to North then, into the direction of the magnetic South Pole.
