Bringing Phyphox to VR/AR Platforms
#1
Hi developers,

I'm reaching out to ask if you have considered to bring this amazing app to VR platforms such as Apple Vision Pro. I have tried to install it on Vision Pro and it is possible, because Vision OS is based on iPad OS, and the apps that running on the iPad OS and also run on Vision OS. However, Access to most types of data are not available. And I have found that the APIs in Vision OS is not completely same as iPad OS.

Is this something already being explored? Or are there any technical or design challenges holding back such a migration?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

We could not get a hand on one of these yet, so no. If anyone wants to help us out though… Wink

I would rule out a native visionOS app for the time being. With “compatible” apps, it does not look like there is a way to get IMU data, see https://developer.apple.com/documentation/coremotion/ (could be because of four sensors units in the device). There does not appear to be GPS or a pressure sensor.

Could you manage to obtain data from the microphones or LiDAR (“Depth Sensor”)? Have you tried the test version for the camera (see https://phyphox.org/forums/showthread.php?tid=2157)?

Just out of curiosity: could you send screenshots (or whatever is possible) of the menu in visionOS?
