Inclination tool - Option to display in Percent rather than degree - B. Douille - 07-27-2025

Hello, can we add this suggestion for a future release ?

In some cases people used to use percentage of a slope rather than degree. Unfortunately, the Inclination experiment only offer a live display in degree.
An inclination in % is equivalent to a deviation of x meter in vertical / y meter in horizontal. For example, 45° is 100%. So far the workaround is to export in a spreadsheet and convert each values using formula =TAN(RADIANS(B2)) but it's not real-time.

An option in the experiment would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

The phyphox file format does not really allow for an option that could be toggled for switching such a representation change of values. However, the change looks like something that is quickly achieved in our shiny new editor and we could put it to the other user experiments in our wiki, https://phyphox.org/wiki/index.php/Category:User_experiments, if it is useful for others…

Would you like to add the inclination in percent or should it replace the values in degrees?

Hello Jens,

The goal is to add this possibility for the real-time, graphic display. An export still in degree doesn't matter as it's easy to convert afterwards.

Of course, graphs also… Smile

So, something like the attached? (It's a quick hack just for the flat position. Jargon –and accordingly translations– might get an issue here…)

Hi Jens,

You're very quick, reactive Smile  I tried it and this looks right.
