The magnetic field is a vector field. As such, it has at each point in space a direction and a magnitude. The magnetometer provides data on the components of the field vector along its coordinate system axes. The coordinate system is the same for all sensors and you could find it at https://phyphox.org/sensors/.
If a component is negative, the vector points more or less in the negative direction of the corresponding axis. The absolute value is the length of the vector, the strength of the magnetic field.
