You are right, however, I do not get the point what would be wrong about that? Steffen's results are quite what I would expect.

Very good idea indeed. I wonder if it is realizable to put a smartphone at the pendulum's axis. It would require the precise location of the accelerometer – or even better: of the gyroscope. Do you have any experience on that?

In Steffen's setup, “with g” apparently does not help due to the complex math behind it.
